Fly Fishing Kids Camp
JHFFS fly fishing and outdoor adventure kids camp. Bringing Jackson youth and visiting youth together for a day of fishing fun and exercise. JHFFS uses fly-fishing as a tool to discover Jackson Hole’s extraordinary natural resources. Through environmental education JHFFS camp councilors will teach our students safe fundamental outdoor skills from the “Riverbed Up.”
JHFFS kids camp motto is to create an “enjoyable non-competitive educational experience.” During a day campers will learn many aspects of fly fishing including; fly casting (roll cast, pick up and putdown cast and false cast), line control, shooting line and hauling line. Each week counselors will instruct students on stream entomology, matching the hatch as well as fly tying lessons.
Safety is our number one priority and lessons in reading the water, safe wading techniques and respect for others is paramount. Environmental stewardship, catch and release techniques and a “leave-no-trace” attitude will instill a responsibility to protect and preserve our treasured native and wild trout resources.
